Everyone’s story is different. Everyone’s journey is their own. This is ours.

If you’re interested in hearing more, feel free to read on but no pressure at all.

If medical things weird you out, you might want to skip this one 😉

Here’s a peek into my journal on the day we found out we were pregnant with the little one I’m carrying now.

My day on November 1st started with a pregnancy test and next came a covid test.

1 Day. 2 Tests…Pregnant with Covid-19.

Sunday. November 1st, 2020

“Started getting a sore throat on Friday and felt really tried on Saturday morning (Halloween) but didn’t really think much of it. It could be anything, right? Last night, I slept terribly. Woke up at 2:00 am with body aches and fever. I tossed and turned in between sleep the rest of the night until finally being done with the whole thing at 6:30 am. Took my temp. Had a fever, headache, and chills. I knew this was not the usual cold. I looked up Covid symptoms and had most of them so a few hours later, my husband and I drove to drive to CVS for a test. I tried to not be impatient for the results which would come in the next day or two days later.”

This is the result that came in the next day.

(My covid symptoms of fever and body aches only lasted that one day. After that I was just really tired the whole week and by the time seven days had gone by, I had lost all taste and smell. It also happened to be my birthday so although the chocolate cake my mom made looked delicious, I could actually taste none of it. Thankfully my smell and taste began to come back a few days later. Overall, our covid symptoms were very mild.)

Here’s the other half of the story…

We have been using the Creighton Model of natural family planning since February of 2020. I have a consultant who I meet one-on-one with online who is teaching me the method. It is just as accurate as all the other contraception options if you follow the system. It doesn’t involve test strips or taking your temperature. It’s amazing and I have learned more about myself, my cycle, and things that I believe every woman should have the opportunity to know about her body if she chooses. I know exactly when I ovulate and no– I am not one of those people who can feel it. It is simply through observation and I love this method.

Sunday. November 1st, 2020

“I knew today was P + 13 (Peak plus thirteen days) or in other words thirteen days after I ovulated. I have been taking progesterone, since apparently my body does not produce enough. I knew on P +13 I was going to take a pregnancy test since we were trying to use the Creighton Method to achieve 😉 at this time. If it was negative, I would simply stop taking the progesterone and my period would start a few days later.

At 7:00 am, I peed in a cup and my husband came in the bathroom to watch the line too. I squeezed three drops into the little pink tester strip and watched. One line on the far left showed up right away so I thought, nope. The line on the left is the control so if nothing else shows up, it is negative. Robby looked at the directions and reassured me we have to wait three whole minutes. I couldn’t watch so he set a timer and we came back when it went off. There it was– a faint line on the right.”

I heard from a friend that you can continue to take tests every few days and see if the line on the test strip gets darker and thicker. It was kind of like a science experiment to see how the HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) hormone in the body increases and can be seen by the test strip line getting darker and thicker every few days.

I didn’t want to get my hopes up but I was.

I had a miscarriage just 3 1/2 months before this so I felt like there was still part of me that wanted to be very cautious, guarded, and not get too excited.

But at the same time I felt overjoyed at the first sign of LIFE.
