Saturday Morning Date to Hippyville

Posted on
Spread the love

One Saturday morning during monsoon,

We found ourselves in a beautiful little hippy hang out.

We could tell because of all the…

  • yoga signs
  • dream catchers
  • tie dyed clothing
  • interesting clothing combinations
  • Aladdin pants
  • the amount of macrame classes that were advertised
  • and of course… hippy tourists!

We don’t have anything against these things, but we usually don’t see them all in one place over here so it was fun to see.

It was a Saturday morning breakfast date to a restaurant we had only heard about. And thankfully we heard good things.

Hummus isn’t usually the first breakfast item on my wishlist but this was sooooo delicious we couldn’t pass it up.

And seasonal fruit with waffles. Yum!

papaya. banana. watermelon. apple

Meanwhile as we were enjoying our hummus, a Hindu devote began playing some music. This supposedly blesses the person or restaurant or whatever it may be and thus the recipient is supposed to give money. But to his dismay the restaurant owner quickly told him he was not welcome to play music for all the customers.

After breakfast, we took a stroll down the little tiny path that ran in front of all the hippy restaurants and shops.

We passed a sleeping grandpa.

And lots of colorful rocks

masala = spice.          chai = tea

so masala chai just means tea with spices

This shop wasn’t open so we’ll have to go back and see if it really is the best masala chai.

Since cows are sacred here, why not paint a cow mural on the wall of your shop?

Notice the hand  prints on the ceiling 🙂 More hippy confirmation.

Loved this reminder on the wall while the lady was cleaning her ear.

Maybe this was just for us because Robby said, “I promise to never take life too seriously and enjoy it with you as the adventure it is” in his wedding vows to me. Great reminder from a clown!

And just as we were leaving, the garbage truck pulled up.

You always know it’s a garbage truck because the guys are jamming out to deafening  South Asian music while they load all the rubbish into the back of the truck.

I simply love the color and the craziness of this moment. Everything just goes with the culture. The fact that it’s nearly impossible to even find one neutral colored trashcan and the workers are even embracing and enjoying what we would consider one of the worst jobs.

Since it started to rain as we were leaving, we piled on all our rain gear and hopped on the motorcycle.
