Hammocking with Cows, Monkeys, and our Temporary Pet Dog

This week was a full week of language learning which brought tears with it (for this emotional pregnant lady. 24 weeks). We had a local couple over for dinner, met with several others, and I took a language exam.

By the end of the week, we knew we needed a few hours in the forest. Our weekend was also packed so we snuck away for a few hours, rode the motorcycle to a nearby hammocking spot, climbed a hill with an auntie and her cows, and put up our hammocks.

On the hike up, we also acquired a dog which viciously chased away the monkeys so we were happy to have her tag along.

We all relaxed in the shade with a mountaintop view in front of us.

Some other village ladies came through to collect firewood and we soon heard them chopping down a tree. These women continuously amaze me with their grit and strength.

We snacked on peanut butter energy cookies that I had taken out of the freezer and packed in my backpack.

Almost every hike we go on, we acquire a temporary pet dog– we really should be naming all of them.
