This is the first year I’ve actually made a vision board and I wanted to think about the WHY before I got started. Backing up a little bit, I recently put a metal grid (like this) above my desk. I wrapped it it twinkle lights and attached things that I need to remember to do and things to inspire me on it. I have changed and rearranged things over the past six months according to my needs but it has been a wonderful reminder of the people that matter, things to stay focused on, people’s birthdays, and tasks I need to do.
My desk grid was much like a vision board
–a place for happy photos, reminders, quotes, or words to give us a little nudge when we forget what matters.
So the answer to my “why make a vision board” turned out to be 1) so I don’t forget what matters, 2) so I am inspired by happy colorful reminders to point me to the kind of purposeful and intentional living that I am striving for, 3) so I remember what the Lord laid on my heart for the year 2020.
starting at the top left picture, here is why I chose what I did…
- Pursue the best year of marriage yet
- Don’t give up (on language learning)
- continue to prioritize health, fitness, and eat whole food
- create more than consume
- find beautify in the simple things. No complaining.
- Be present and seek God’s presence
- Sabbath rest. create.
- cultivate life giving home. dinner club. having people over and purse uplifting conversations around the table
- enjoy coffee (& the little things). slow moments. no rush. no hurry.
- mark up the Word and live by it every day
- enjoy adventures with my husband…under the stars. get outside. go travel. go camping.
- show up for language every day
- get to know the locals better–their stories, their hearts. get out in the community. (and enjoy the baby goats that roam the streets too)
