The Bucket that Gets Dumped Out When You Move Abroad
You may not realize it, but you have a bucket of skills that has been curated around your language, culture, skill set, and everything involved in making your life YOURS. When you move overseas, the bucket gets completely dumped out and must be filled again. This takes persistence, perseverance, and reliance on others. I’m here with some thoughts and tips.
Transition Back to South Asian Life & 3rd Quarantine
It has been ten days since we left our house and our quarantine is almost over. This week has given us time to re-establish routines, study language, clean the house, and get back into cooking from scratch.
Home Again. Home Again
A little jungle in the kitchen greeted me and it was the best surprise after three days of travel. It took me several hours to clean part of the kitchen, wash veggies (including spinach) and make a tiny bit of granola from what we had left of the oats in the cupboard. I found a plethora of bugs and maggots (dead, thankfully) and threw a lot of food out—- bags of noodles, nuts and seeds, and dry spices to name a few.
