We’ve been in lockdown for 60 days now and naturally we’ve been together for 60 days too. We definitely love and appreciate each other but knew we needed to make date night happen and make it feel like something out of the ordinary, especially since almost every day feels the same. Since we aren’t able to hike, go to a restaurant, or have a picnic in the woods in our town yet, I tried to get extra creative.
We both love the outdoors so my goal was to work with what we had (plants and a balcony) to bring the outdoors to us since going out into the jungle (literally what a forest is called here) wasn’t an option.
I hadn’t planned a date night in a while so we agreed that I would plan this particular Friday night date. I went to work cleaning the balcony since I don’t mop it every day (or very often) like the locals do. I dragged out the rugs from our bedroom and some of the pillows from around the house, cozied all my plants around the rugs, and set up candles and twinkle lights. I don’t know about you but I love me some twinkle lights–beautiful, adorable, and brighten any space.
menu:
- homemade zucchini & onion pizza with white garlic pizza sauce with whole wheat dough
- homemade chocolate ice cream
It was so comfy and the weather was so perfect that we even decided to make it into an open air “camping trip.” We fell asleep with the Big Dipper right over our heads and the street dogs serenading barking us to sleep.
highlight of the next day: ordering butter chicken and naan since we are finally able to order food again. Praises!
I hope you are able to relax and take time to slow down, whether you are by yourself during this season of quarantine or with someone else.
